NBA Champions Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh over the Valentine’s weekend hosted the All-Star Bowling Classic in Toronto in support of the Game Changer program — a collaborative integrated sports program created by The Sandals Foundation and Wade’s World Foundation. The Game Changer program, now in its second year, aims to assist youth in underserved communities through sport and mentorship.
Presented by Apollo Jets, proceeds from the celebrity bowling event, co-hosted by Wade and Bosh, benefitted the Game Changer initiative and continued to raised awareness for the cause through a red carpet, star-studded event during NBA All-Star Weekend. Hosted at The Ballroom in the heart of Toronto (145 John Street), the fundraiser featured 9 sponsored bowling lanes and an afternoon of family fun complete with food, drink, games and entertainment. A silent auction was also part of the charity event’s festivities.
Celebrities and friends who came out to lend their support for the All-Star Bowling Classic and Game Changer included: Gabrielle Union (actress), Marcus Stroman (Toronto Blue Jays), Aaron Sanchez (Toronto Blue Jays), Thomas Davis (Carolina Panthers), Julio Jones (Atlanta Falcons), Jonathan Keltz (actor), J.B. Smoove (comedian), Roger Cross (actor), Dwayne De Rosario (MLS Club Champion) and Billy Blanks (fitness guru) among others. Canadian sports television personality Cabral “Cabbie” Richards served as the event’s official emcee.
This year’s All-Star Bowling Classic sponsors included: Presenting Sponsor: Apollo Jets; Premium Sponsor: WestJet; Lane Sponsors: CAA Sports, Gatorade, TravelBrands, Air Canada Vacations, Travelweek, Mission Athletecare, Sanitas Skincare, TripMate Inc., and Fortress RDI; as well as Event Sponsors: The Willis Foundation, Barbados Tourism, Amadeus and Scratch DJ Academy. Additionally, silent auction partners included: Sony Music, Xbox, Sesame Street, Soles by Sir, and Greg Norman/Great White Shark among others. Those who opt to ‘change the game’ by providing a financial contribution can still do so via www.sandalsfoundation.org.
