The following is a statement issued by Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, on the passing of H.E. Emmanuel Cotter:
“The Government of Saint Lucia expresses its condolences to the family of His Excellency Emmanuel Cotter who passed away in London on September 5th, 2014. Mr. Cotter served Saint Lucia as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 1998 – 2007. The late High Commissioner represented Saint Lucia with a high degree of commitment throughout his diplomatic tenure. He enhanced bilateral relations with the United Kingdom and strengthened the traditional bonds of friendship between the two countries.
H.E. Cotter contributed immensely to Saint Lucia’s diaspora community in the United Kingdom as Head of Mission and through his various charitable works. The development of Caribbean nationals in the UK was also a cause close to his heart and he worked assiduously with a number of organisations to this end. In honour of his outstanding service to the community, he was awarded an MBE for facilitating economic development and entrepreneurship in inner city communities in the UK.
To those who knew him and worked with him, he was a deeply patriotic Saint Lucian and exhibited a strong sense of duty in carrying out his functions. The former High Commissioner will be sorely missed.
May he rest in peace.”

To call someone a true patriot is to expose their robotic self. Only a shallow slave is a patriot, one who goes on being operated by remote control.
