Adjodha update

Julian and Moeita Adjodha appeared in the High Court on Friday, July 1 for their sufficiency hearing.  When the case was called, the Crown sought an adjournment to obtain outstanding statements and reports.  Justice Kenneth Benjamin granted the adjournment to September 30.

A third defendant appeared in the box along with Julian and Moeita Adjodha.  He is Einan Etan and he was charged on April 14 with Aiding and Abetting the Importation of Controlled Drugs.  Etan was represented by attorney Leslie Mondesir while Lorne Theophilus and Gerald Williams appeared for the Adjodha’s.

The Adjodha’s were arrested and charged on Thursday, April 7 in connection with 93.9lbs of marijuana found concealed on their Beausejour business compound on March 17.  The drugs were found hidden in sealed metal barrels containing dishwashing liquid and are valued at EC$75,200.

The forty-five-year-old man and his 41-year-old wife have both been charged with Possession of Controlled Drugs and Possession with Intent to Supply. Julian Adjodha is also charged separately with Importing Controlled Drugs.

The Adjodha’s first appeared before a magistrate on Friday April 8. Julian and Moeita Adjodha were granted bail on Monday, April 11 in the sum of $10,000 on each of the five charges or suitable security with one surety on each charge.  Further, they have to surrender their passports and are prohibited from leaving the state without permission from the court.  Additionally, the couple has to report to the Gros Islet Police Station every Monday and Friday before 6pm.
