We received loads of positive responses to our cover story in the Wednesday issue of the STAR newspaper, submitted by Miguel Trim, not least of which was about the stunning beauty of our subject Ms Laurah John. But the story had nothing to do with her looks and more about the brains behind them and a young woman who is passionate about making a difference. Laurah was the leader of an eight person winning team at the 8th UNESCO Youth Forum Startup Weekend which was held from October 25 to 27, 2013 in Paris, France. Miss John was also the delegate for Saint Lucia at the 8th UNESCO Youth Forum held from October 29 to 31, 2013 at UNESCO’s Headquarters in Paris under the theme “Youth and Social Inclusion: Civic Engagement, Dialogue and Skills Development.”
For her win, the 27 year old and her team received recognition and prizes during the 8th UNESCO Youth Forum. As the team leader, John will receive a special prize of an all expense paid trip to the United States to meet with potential investors and entrepreneurs. Laurah John is the daughter of prominent Saint Lucian magistrate and former politician Velon John.
Look out for more on this talented young Saint Lucian in an upcoming issue of the STAR newspaper.
