St Lucia and the regions’ premiere female high-jumper Levern Spencer, continued her European tour with a bronze medal last Saturday.
Competing at the Folksam Grand Prix in Sweden, Spencer cleared a mark of 1.88 m to earn the bronze medal. Sweden’s number one and 2012 Olympic finalist Emma Green Tregaro took the silver clearing a height of 1.92 m.
Spain’s number one and the fourth place finisher at last year’s Olympics, Ruth Beithia won the gold with a similar clearance of 1.92 m but was awarded victory on a count back.
This is the third time in as many competitions on this European tour, that St Lucia’s Olympian has made the medal podium. She won gold in France and bronze in Czech Republic.
Spencer who is St Lucia’s multi Sportswoman of the Year, has already met the qualifying mark for this year’s World Championships in Moscow, Russia. She will again be in action this coming weekend in Germany.
