Another Successful Canada Education Fair in St. Lucia

The Government of Canada and the High Commission office of Canada based in Barbados, hosted another successful Education Fair here at the Bay Gardens Hotel. This following a similar activity which was held at the same venue in November of last year.

Recruiters from a number of Canadian College and University Institutions were present on Wednesday October 21st in the hotel’s conference room to share information with eager, potential students. According to Jessica Mackie, Political and Public Affairs Officer at the High Commission office, what was most gratifying was to see the number of parents who came with their children. “It is one thing when the students are interested but when they have the support of the parents and the parents are on hand to sift through the information with them, then that’s always a good thing,” she said.

The Canada Education Fair is designed to offer students, parents, teachers, guidance counselors and other interested persons an opportunity to learn more about study abroad options available in Canada. This year the team from Canada also took the opportunity to visit some of the schools in the south of the island to present them with information, recognizing their difficulty at accessing the fair in Rodney Bay.

Canada, according to the office of the High Commission of Canada, remains committed to being a primary provider of exceptional tertiary-level education for Saint Lucian students interested in acquiring qualifications abroad. There are more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate degree programmes offered in Canada as well as professional degree programmes and certificates available.
