Athletes medal at CAC Junior Championships

The Saint Lucia Athletics Association congratulates the members of the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Junior Championship team, for their outstanding performance in El Salvador.
The five member delegation (four athletes and one coach) captured one gold and two silver medals at the championship.
Jeannelle Scheper achieved a personal best performance when she captured the gold medal in the Girls Under-20 High Jump clearing 1.85 metres; Marbeq Edgar secured the silver medal in the Under-18 Boys 1500 metres in a time of four 4 minutes 2.38 seconds; Shem Edward also captured a silver medal in the Under-20 Boy’s Pole Vault after he cleared 4.50 metres.
Talberc Poleon came fifth in the 400 metres finals in a time of 47.73 seconds, after running his personal best time of 47.38 in the semi-finals.
Scheper and Poleon will now focus on the IAAF World Youth Championship in Barcelona, Spain.
The team to Spain departs St Lucia on Saturday evening via the Hewanorra International Airport.
In other news, two members of the NACAC Under-23 Championships left St Lucia on Tuesday, to meet up with the rest of Team St Lucia in Mexico.
The Members of the NACAC Under-23 Team are as follows: Sandisha Antoine (ladies long jump, triple Jump), Merica Moncherry (100m, 200m), Makeba Alcide (women’s heptathlon), Rick Valcin (men’s pole vault). Henry Bailey is the coach.
