The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has implemented a number of measures in an effort to minimize traffic congestion along the John Compton Highway. The measures were rolled out today, September 15, and the RSLPF says that it will continue on every weekday. The changes will be in effect from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and are as follows:

-L’anse Road, Castries will be utilised as a one way, causing vehicles to travel in a southern direction from John Compton Highway.

– The John Compton Highway will be temporarily converted into two lanes for vehicles travelling towards Castries.

– Vehicles travelling towards Gros Islet will use only the left lane.

– Vehicles travelling from north going to L’Anse Road, will use the left lane.

– Vehicles travelling from the north going straight into Castries will use the centre lane. Please be advised that cones and barriers will be used to assist in traffic directions.

The RSLPF says that due to the success of today’s traffic management, it will continue on weekdays, whilst schools remain opened. “Any changes made to the route or the discontinuance of the activities will be made public in due course. We wish to thank the motoring public for the cooperation during this time. The Traffic Department and by extension the RSLPF, remains committed to improving road safety,” the organisation said in a statement.
