Babonneau impressive in men’s basketball

A player with Babonneau Dynasty takes dead aim at the basket in Saturday’s game against Canaries Moon River.

Babonneau Dynasty won both weekend encounters against Canaries and BBC during play in the National Men’s Basketball League.

The action got underway Saturday at Gros Islet, where Combined Schools defeated Veterans 67-52.  The Monster Player of the Game was Kraigg Brooks for his game high 24 points (pts) and nine rebounds (rebs).  At the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, the first of the doubleheader saw a convincing win for the VBCC Warlords over the Morne Gladiators 98-65. The Delirius Bar and Deli Player of the Game was Dwight Paul who shot four for six from three point range for his 16 pts and two steals.

Game two of the evening featured a close encounter between Babonneau Dynasty and Canaries Moon River. The Dynasty edged out Canaries 71-69 in the end, with a layup attempt made good by Leonard Emmanuel with .11secs to go in regulation.

Emmanuel earned the Monster Player of the Game title for the game with a team high 16 pts and eight rebs. On Sunday, Babonneau Dynasty played the second of their weekend back to back versus a rested BBC in Micoud. The Dynasty continued from where they left off on Saturday, with a blowout victory 105-54 over BBC.

Lester Jn Charles was truly the Monster Player of the Game for his 26 pts and 21 rebs in that game.

At the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Combined Schools were in action again versus Soufriere in the evening’s first game. Schools were down an early 16-0 deficit, but rallied back to win their second in as many games 75-63 over the team from the West Coast.

Troy Louison secured the Dominos Pizza Player of the Game with 28 pts, four rebs and four steals in his team’s victory.   Game two of the evening featured a clash between last year’s finalists Canaries Moon River vs defending champions Courts Jets. An evenly fought game early on had Canaries leading at the half 39-37. That changed quickly in the third quarter, when Jets went on a 24-9 run to lead commandingly 61-48 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

They went on to win their second game over Canaries in this year’s tournament with a final score 86-69.

The Monster Player of the Game was Andre Louison with 28 pts, six rebs and four steals. In other news, look out for All Star Weekend May 18-19 at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.
