Bank of Saint Lucia made the start of the new school year special for a number of students through a number of initiatives which build on the link between education, good money management and the pursuit of success.
This year, the Bank hosted its annual Student Success Workshop for students in the BOSL Scholarship Programme. This year’s Workshop was held under the theme ‘The Future is Yours.’
The Workshop, which is a collaboration between BOSL and the Celestial Self Development Centre, is intended to equip students with the skills necessary to keep them motivated and inspired to continue to excel in their studies.
Students also learned innovative ways to approach and solve problems and to maintain balance between academic and extra-curricular pursuits. Over 30 students from seven secondary schools attended the workshop.
BOSL also held its Back to School Promotion where Shatanya Inglis won the grand prize of $1,000.00 for the purchase of school supplies and an A+ Club Back to School prize pack including a backpack, exercise books and stationery. To qualify for this promotion, A+ Club account holders had to meet the savings target of $300 in the year of the prize draw.
Her mother Odile Evans opened the A+ Club Account for her daughter. A+ Club Accounts are created to encourage children to develop the good habit of saving. It is designed for children and young persons up to 18 years old, offering incentives to help keep them saving and aiming for the top. Children can begin signing on their account from as early as the age of seven.
These Back to School initiatives by BOSL are two-fold. The first objective is to reward young people for getting into the habit of saving from an early age, and secondly, to design programmes which will develop the talents of our young people and equip them for the school year ahead, and for life.
