Saint Lucia’s leading manufacturing company, Baron Foods Limited, is poised to lead the way for other local manufacturers to enter the Cuban market. Five Baron Foods products have already been accepted by the Spanish territory.
Managing Director of Baron Foods, Ronald Ramjattan said the process involved among other things, guaranteeing that the products are of international standards and submitting them to testing in Cuban laboratories.
“I have done all of those and my next step now is basically to have products presented to Cuban Chefs, hotels and restaurants, introducing my products to the Cuban market,” Mr. Ramjattan disclosed.
He said the Saint Lucian Embassy in Cuba has been working assiduously with him over the last two years on the project.
Ramjattan this month joined six other local manufacturers at a business forum in Cuba that was held from July 15 -17, 2015.
“During my stay in Cuba we met the relevant Ministers and they now will be using Baron Foods as the first company that will be introducing its products and services in Cuba with the rest of the companies from Saint Lucia under that same tent,” the Baron Foods Managing Director revealed. He said he was grateful to TEPA for using his company as the “guinea pig.”
Baron Foods currently exports its range of condiments to twenty-five countries.
