Basketball League results

A player with ISE gets past a Combined Schools defender for a layup.

A total of four games were scheduled for Saturday but due to heavy rains at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, two were rescheduled.

First in Micoud, a double header tipped off the evening with Dennery going up against BBC in a premier league clash much to the delight of the east coast fans. Dennery proved too much for BBC with another strong performance again from veteran player Desmond Vidal leading the charge with a convincing 73 – 43 victory.

Vidal earned the much deserved honours of Monster Player of the Game with a total of 33 points (pts), 13 rebounds (rebs) and two steals. Kevin Mathurin also had a double double with 17 pts and 10 rebs for Dennery.

For BBC, Kurt Raphael had a double double with 13 pts and 14 rebs in their loss.

Second game of the doubleheader in Micoud featured the home-team Micoud Hustlerz against Veterans in a Division One encounter. A spirited display in front of the home fans had scores leveled at the end of regulation, with extra time needed to determine the outcome.

In their overtime victory, Veterans used all their experience to overcome the hostile environment to pull away with an 80-66 win. Aloysius Daniels was a key factor in the win for Veterans with figures of 21 pts and 8 rebs. He was aided by Jermaine Thomas who added 19 pts and 10 rebs while Marcellus Steide chipped with 16 pts and 14 rebs.

For Micoud, they got steady contributions all-round and were led by Canaan St Catherine with his 18 pts and 17 rebs in their defeat.

The Monster Player of the Game was Aloysius Daniels with his 21pts and 8rebs for the Veterans.
