Beaubrun qualifies for Olympic Games

Danielle Beaubrun has qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Danielle Beaubrun bounced back from a disastrous first round swim in the 100 meter breast stroke on Monday at the Pan American games in Guadalajara, Mexico, to win the B finals of the event in a time of 1:10.63 minutes.
This time surpassed the B standard set by FINA of 1:10.89 minutes. Beaubrun, who is based in Fort Myers, Florida and coached by Neal Studd, is the first Saint Lucian swimmer to achieve a qualifying mark for participation in an Olympic Games. Read more about Beaubrun’s accomplishments in Saturday’s edition of the Star newspaper.
The Olympic Committee wishes to express its congratulations to the athlete and her coach on having attained this milestone and pledges its continued support not only to those who have attained the standards to date but to those who are still trying to qualify for the London Games.
In the coming weeks, the SLOC will disclose further assistance which it will place at the disposal of its members in an attempt at producing more qualifiers for London 2012.
