Bank of Saint Lucia continues to support and participate in Financial Information Month.
Financial Information Month is observed in October of each year by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) and banks across the Currency Union. Academic institutions, the media, private and public sector institutions, and community-based groups also participate in activities to mark Financial Literacy Month. This year’s observance is being held under the theme “Soar to Succeed”. 2014 marks 13 years of the annual observance.
This year, BOSL embarked on a number of activities including school presentations, newspaper article submissions, social media and website promotion, customer e-blasts and participation in the ECCB Business Symposium & Innovation Forum. Staff of the various BOSL branches also donned the ‘Soar to Succeed’ themed shirts in support of the Month’s activities.
BOSL will launch a new series of FIM themed financial literacy tips on local radio and the bank will also participate in the Financial Fair slated for October 23rd in the William Peter Boulevard.
This year’s theme ‘Soar to Succeed’ is designed to inspire and challenge all citizens in the ECCU to rise above the ordinary to achieve success by going beyond ordinary commitment, vision, skills, efforts and actions.
Throughout October, there will be various initiatives including the FIM theme song and video, as well as radio and television discussions on the theme. Financial institutions will also make presentations to schools and churches and conduct workshops focusing on business innovation, competitiveness and entrepreneurship to engage, enlighten, empower and challenge residents of the ECCU to strive to reach their full potential. Additionally, various contests specifically targeting students will seek to motivate and spur their productive, creative, and innovative entrepreneurial ambitions.
As a responsible corporate entity BOSL is committed to supporting financial literacy efforts across the island to empower individuals to make sound financial decisions.
