Today Saint Lucia welcomed its first international commercial flight since the March 23 closure of the borders due to the COVID-19 pandemic. American Airlines flight 2295 landed at Hewanorra International Airport at approximately 2:15 pm with 131 passengers. A team from the Ministry of Health is at the airport conducting the necessary screening and processing of travelers.

To date Saint Lucia has recorded 22 cases of the virus and 19 persons have fully recovered. In the coming days and weeks, more flights are scheduled to arrive in the country as officials seek to resuscitate the crucial tourism sector.
