BREAKING: Security Breach at studios of GIS and NTN

The government of Saint Lucia’s Principal Information Officer, Davina Lee, announced moments ago that there was a security breach at the studios of the Government Information Service (GIS) and National Television Network (NTN). She says that the incident occurred sometime between the night of Wednesday, October 28 and the morning of Thursday, October 29. The agencies are located at Hewanorra House, Point Seraphine.

In a video statement, Lee announced: “Hard drives containing approximately 120 terabytes of data which included valuable historical footage of national importance was purposely destroyed, as those drives were dismantled and a substance poured over them. Technical Editing Bays at the GIS were also ransacked, and a DVR machine containing surveillance footage is currently missing.”

Lee said that this matter is under active investigation by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF). In closing, she appealed to Saint Lucians: “If any member of the public has any information on this occurrence, please contact the RSLPF. Programming from the GIS will continue as normal as we continue to fulfill our mandate of information dissemination to the nation, which is of critical importance at this time. Thank you.”
