The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) has published protocols which will be in effect at the country’s airports. Yesterday Saint Lucia welcomed its first international commercial flight since the borders were closed on March 23. More flights are scheduled to arrive in the country in the coming days and weeks. In a press statement today, SLASPA announced that the airports will be operating under “strict health and safety protocols” as officials seek to prevent, control and suppress the spread of COVID-19.

The protocols are outlined below:

Effective, July 9th, 2020, only departing and arriving passengers will be allowed within the terminal.

For Arrivals, the general public will not be allowed to congregate within the meet and greet area. Persons picking up arriving passengers will be allowed access to the car park as controlled by the security checkpoint and will remain in cleared vehicles until passengers exit. All ground transport and pick up drivers must wear face masks and only authorized taxis will be allowed to operate at the airports as mandated by the Ministry of Tourism.

All arriving passengers must wear a face mask before entering the terminal and will follow marked spaces on the floor which allows for social distancing. Where possible, families will be processed together, and all forms must be completed prior to being attended. Once processed, immediately collect baggage and head to the next available Customs Officer for clearance then exit to Ground Transportation.

For Departures, vehicles entering the airport must stop at the designated Security Check-point. Drop off will be done on the curb and only departing passengers will be allowed entry into the check-in concourse at the airports (face masks required). Passengers should proceed to the Check-in counter with documents in hand then head to Departures for Immigration Check and Security Screening and await boarding.

Please note that all users of the airports should adhere to health protocols and maintain social distancing. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. For more information, please visit www.slaspa.com or call us at 457 6100.
