The country’s newest political party, the Saint Lucia National Party (SNP) has endorsed its first candidate for the upcoming general election. In June the party’s founder Kevin Lord called on Saint Lucians to embrace the SNP, stating that the country is in dire need of a new political party to tackle national issues in the best interest of Saint Lucians without fear or favour.

“The SNP is pleased to present its first endorsed candidate: Mr. Brennan Fitzgerald Francis. Francis will be contesting the upcoming general elections for the SNP in the Castries Central Constituency,” the party announced in a statement sent to the STAR today, Wednesday. The SNP stated that Francis, a businessman and married father of two, is Central Castries born and bred, and is from the lower Morne Dudon/Rose Hill area.

“He has been going around meeting the people of Castries Central with a view to determining the nature of the issues confronting the people and how best these issues can be resolved with of course, the input of the constituents. The people of Castries Central need a representative who understands and is able to articulate their concerns. Brennan is more than capable of being the voice of the people,” the party stated.

Current Castries Central MP Sarah Flood-Beaurbrun is expected to contest the seat again for the United Workers Party. Meanwhile the Saint Lucia Labour Party has not endorsed a candidate for the constituency: https://stluciastar.com/eyeing-coveted-castries-central-seat-stanley-felix-declares-im-ready-to-fight-again-richard-frederick-not-impressed/
