The workshop, which is to be held at the Karibe Hotel will be attended by representatives from six Caribbean countries, a number of regional organisations, and from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Climate Investment Funds (CIF). The primary aim of the workshop is to assess the progress of the programme which began in 2016. Over the two days, participants will exchange lessons learned, discuss progress and examine options for improved monitoring and reporting on the Caribbean regional PPCR for the next reporting cycles.

The Caribbean PPCR is a climate change adaptation initiative supported by the Climate Investment Funds (CIF). The Caribbean PPCR has two complementary tracks. The first track consists of individual country based investments in Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines. The second is a Regional Track of activities involving regional organizations working in key sectors in the Caribbean to improve regional processes to acquire, store, analyse access and disseminate climate relevant data and to pilot and scale up innovative climate resilient initiatives in the region in areas such as agriculture, health, water and fisheries.

The Caribbean Regional Track of the PPCR is coordinated by a Programme Management Unit under the Mona Office for Research and Innovation (MORI) at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica, in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank.

Data generated and information products developed under the regional track will be used at both national and regional levels to support planning and decision making to address build regional resilience to the impacts of climate change.
