Chamber to Commerce to hold AGM

“ADAPT OPERATE THRIVE” has been the focus of the oldest and most recognizable private sector membership organization on the island for the last eighteen months, as the business community and nation have grappled with the Covid-19 Pandemic and its accompanying trials.

The Annual General Meeting will have as its Featured Speaker, the Prime Minister of St. Lucia, Honourable Philip J. Pierre, who will have his first opportunity, of what is sure to be many, to share his thoughts and his government’s plans for the economy and country and the role he expects the business community to play.

The Tuesday 30th November 2021 Meeting will be conducted, out of an abundance of caution, using a digital meeting platform to minimize any threats from the lingering virus. This will be the second time the Annual General Meeting will be conducted using digital technology.

The 137th Annual General Meeting also represents a swan song for Outgoing President, Karen Peter who served a third term, an unusual, but not unheard-of occurrence, as her experience and steady hand was called upon to help the institution navigate an election year in the midst of the pandemic.

The Meeting will also be addressed by Mr. Francis Lewis of ResConsulting, one of the Chamber’s regular Business Education Facilitators out of Trinidad and Tobago, who, not too long ago, led the Doctorate Program at the Arthur Lock Jack School of Business. Francis will speak on a subject which has occupied his Consulting Business in recent times: “Reset, Rethink, Reboot.” A discussion on the critical steps one needs to engage in if one’s business is to arrive on the right side of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event Partner at this AGM is The Beacon Insurance who will have an opportunity to make a brief introduction of some of their exciting services to the attendees. The Chamber will also use the AGM to launch its new MVP Program, that provides outstanding and spectacular specials from one Chamber Member to another.

This Open Session of the Annual General Meeting will also be addressed by the President of the Chamber. The Closed Session will incorporate the critical business of the organization where the Executive Director’s Report, and the Auditor’s Report will be presented. Election of Officers will also take place with expectations of new Members joining the Board, as some current Board Members have indicated that they will not be seeking reelection. Chamber Members are reminded to register for the AGM with the Secretariat via email at info@stluciachamber.org or via telephone at 452 3165.
