A Level One International Coaches Course is currently underway in Saint Lucia, with 23 participants in attendance.
FIVB Instructor, Dan Girleanu is in charge of the course with Yohanna Mota Moreno, Vice Director of the Regional Development Centre in the Dominican Republic as the supervisor and coordinator. The course offered through the FIVB’s Volleyball Cooperation Program (VCP), is aimed at improving coaching skills and participants’ knowledge of the game.
Of the 23 participants, seven candidates had the opportunity to participate with the support of a scholarship from the NORCECA Development Programme. In addition to the national participants, the coaches also came from Trinidad & Tobago, Saint Maarten, Montserrat, Jamaica, Belize, USA Virgin Island and St Eustatius. Other candidates consisted of national participants from the Saint Lucia Federation.
The opening ceremony was attended by Brian Louisy, President of the National Volleyball Federation and Fortuna Belrose, President of the St Lucia Olympic Committee and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports in Saint Lucia.
