Color Me Red expected to be Bigger and Better

As Saint Lucia’s preeminent cultural showpiece—Carnival 2012—gets ready to move into full gear, activities have reached a fevered pitch with the announcement of a star studded line-up for one of the biggest events on the Carnival calendar of activities, ‘Color Me Red.’
Organizers of the event say come July 11, patrons to the increasingly popular show; which has become ‘a must see’ on the annual carnival roster, will again be treated to a well-choreographed, high energy show, involving performances from some of the Caribbean’s best and most exciting soca stars.
The growth of the event has forced its move for a second consecutive year from the Gaiety on Rodney Bay to the Beausejour Cricket stadium in the north.
2012 Trinidad and Tobago’s triple title holder for Groovy, Road March and Power Soca—singer, record producer and songwriter Machel Montano HD will headline the show dubbed ‘Double M.’
Montano and his HD family are expected to thrill audiences with his high energy, fast paced and often unpredictable stage performance.
Other regionals acts complimenting the cast include Patrice Roberts and Farmer Nappy.
Color Me Red organizers say the event, now into its 8th year, provides an excellent platform for local soca artistes to not only network with regional counterparts, but more critically to gain experience and compare notes in an attempt to broaden their prospective of the creative industry while sharing a common stage.
Rounding out the stellar list of artistes for Color Me Red-‘Double M’ on July 11 are several of Saint Lucian’s leading soca stars like current Road March; Groovy and Power soca Monarch Ricky T, Teddyson John, Superman HD, Toya, Marianne, Mysterio and the jam band Derek Yard Project (DYP) among others.
Tickets are priced at EC$85.00, EC$100.00 at the door and all-inclusive drinks and finger foods VIP packages are priced at EC$200.00 and are available at leading ticket outlets.
Color Me Red remains largely popular with regional visitors; particularly those from the French dependent territories of Martinique and Guadeloupe, many of whom travel to Saint Lucia to participate in the two-day carnival street jump-up parade.
Sponsors of the show include: Digicel-The Bigger Better Network, Piton, Monster Energy Drink, Luxado, Chairman’s Reserve, Caribbean Airlines, Black & White Scotch Whisky, Smirnoff, Blue Waters, Diamond Girl, Lucozade, Radio Caribbean International (RCI), DV8 Unlimited, RPM Inc stage management and RED Unlimited Inc.
