In a press statement earlier today the Minister for Commerce Manufacturing, Business Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs, Hon. Emma Hippolyte, warned that due to global shipping delays brought on by the Corona-virus pandemic supplies of brown and refined sugar into the island have been adversely affected. Current supplies, she noted, were being managed to allow for even distribution to all customers.

Minister Hipployte then appealed to retailers to manage the sale of sugar so persons do not engage in panic buying.

The minister emphasized there was no “shortage” and anticipated that supplies would return to normal by the end of the month.
