On Tuesday 31st July 2012, about 11:00 am, officers attached to the Major Crime Unit of the Royal St.Lucia Police Force acting upon information proceeded to the High Court Building located on Penyier Street, Castries.
Whilst there, they intercepted a Police Constable of Choiseul but resides at Faux A Chaud, Castries. He is a police officer of 8 years service.
A search was conducted on his person and two black bags containing Cannabis was discovered in a black plastic bag in one of his pockets.
At the time of his arrest, the Police Constable was on duty at the High Court as a Court Orderly.
On Wednesday 1st August 2012, he was charged for the Possession of a Controlled Drug and Possession with the Intent to Supply a Controlled Drug.
He was taken before the First District Court on Thursday 2nd August 2012 to answer to the said charges.
He was bailed in the sum of $750.00 cash, suitable surety or land documents on each charge. He was also bailed on the following conditions:
1) Surrender all travel documents
2) Not to leave the state
3) Report to the at Beat and Patrol Department every Friday
He is to re appear before the court on Friday 14th September, 2012.
The Police Officer has since been suspended from duty.
