Police officers attached to the Traffic Department of the Royal St.Lucia Police Force, are currently investigating the death of 24-year-old Shane Mathurin of Corinth, Gros-Islet, who got involved in a traffic accident which occurred about 10:20pm on Tuesday the 22nd of February, 2011 on the Bexon Highway, Castries.
It was reported that Mathurin was driving his red Toyota Corolla, registration number: HE 6630, in the direction of Castries when he collided with a blue Mitsubishi omnibus, 12-seater, driven by 55-year-old Augustine Agdomar of Castries, while attempting to negotiate a bend on the aforesaid highway. The 12-seater which was travelling in the opposite direction, overturned after the collision and the driver who was the sole passenger, was taken to the Victoria Hospital where he is admitted in a stable condition. The car also crashed into a Mazda pick-up which was parked near the road side. The pick-up also overturned but there was no one onboard.
Shane Mathurin was taken to the Victoria Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A post mortem will be performed shortly.
