COVID-19 Update: 31 New Cases, 1 Critical

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Tuesday, October 26, 2021 confirms a total of thirty-one (31) new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Monday, October 25, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 264 samples which were collected between October 22 and October 25, 2021. This number of positive cases makes up 11.7% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in-country to date to 12,465.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 50 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19.

This brings the number of active cases in-country to 370. Currently, one (1) individual is in critical state and five (5) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 36,664 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 31,441 have received the second dose. A total of 13,798 individuals have received the first dose and 8,688 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccinations will continue tomorrow Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the Vigie Sports Complex, Dennery Mothers’ Preschool, Laborie Wellness Center, Gros- Islet Human Resource Center and Vieux Fort RC Parish Hall. The vaccine will also be distributed at the St. Anthony Medical Center in Vieux Fort and Tapion Hospital by appointment only. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 5 pm.
