While Saint Lucians talked and talked, some in disbelief (yet again) about the result of the controversy-plagued 2016 general elections Saint Lucia’s governor general Dame Pearlette Louisy removed herself to London to join in the celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Doubtless it was a welcome break for the Dame. Meanwhile many here are wondering if she will continue in her position after Prime Minister Allen Chastanet’s Cabinet has been sworn in.
She became governor general when Kenny Anthony replaced Vaughan Lewis as this island’s prime minister in 1997. Many expected a replacement when Sir John returned to office in 2006 but the Dame survived. Who knows what the next week will bring and what will be her next move? We wish her only the best!
