Des Barras Primary School Refurbished As Part Of CIBC First Caribbean Adopt-A-Cause Activity

Teachers and students of the Des Barras Primary School now have more cheerful surroundings thanks to the staff of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank. Each year the CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Adopt-A-Cause Programme focuses on improving a facet of our local community through the activities chosen by the employees of the bank. Over the past few years the programme has focused on schools, enhancing their environments to facilitate more comfortable learning.

“The Adopt-A-Cause Programme is a very important initiative for the bank as it allows us to interact with our communities one-on-one. We look forward to this campaign every year, and it is a wonderful experience for our staff who participate in making a difference in various communities, this time around in the lives of the students who attend the Des Barras Primary School,” said the bank’s Country Manager, Ladesa James-Williams.

“Our book drive was an immense success with a number of employees donating books that will enhance the reading ability of the students, as well as opening up a world of possibility with new and interesting stories. We carpeted the school’s library with new floor mats from wall to wall in hopes of creating a more comfortable environment for the children to read, and also brightened up the school’s exterior with a fresh coat of paint,” she added.

This is the first time the Adopt-A-Cause programme has included the Des Barras Primary School. Other schools that have benefitted in the past include Augier Combined School, Babanneau Secondary School, Bocage Combined School, Fond St. Jacques Primary School, Grande Riviere Infant and Primary Schools, La Croix Maingot Combined School, Salvation Army Preschool and Day Care, Soufriere Infant School and Vide Bouteille Primary School.
