Digicel continues to brighten the lives of thousands through the length and breadth of St. Lucia, this time delivering Christmas cheer to children through various toy drive initiatives. Digicel partnered with a host of organizations and charities with the common objective of ensuring that the festive season is truly a celebratory one for as many youth as possible.
The eventful weekend commenced in the community of Desruisseaux with Blazin FM’s 2nd annual Christmas Toy Drive on Friday December 18th. Through the guidance of the Salvation Army, over one hundred and fifty kids were identified, based on socio-economic challenges and circumstances, as beneficiaries for this grand Christmas treat. Loads of eats, drinks and gifts awaited the kids who all cheerfully enjoyed their Christmas party along with entertainment from Blazin FM personalities including Hollywood HP, MC Scady, DJ Play and more.
Digicel also collaborated with the Boys Training Centre in the hosting of a special Christmas celebration for the young men of the BTC at Serenity Park. Reigning Soca Monarch and St. Lucia’s Soca sensation Ricky-T joined the young men to ensure that their festive season was nothing short of extraordinary, positive, enlightening and cheerful. Digicel went one step further in fulfilling the Christmas wishes of each of the young men based on their wish list by providing unique and personalized gifts.
The weekend continued with The Wave’s Toy and Food Drive and Uncle Superman’s Smile for a Child. While The Wave’s team went to various pockets of the island to deliver Christmas cheer, Uncle Superman transported children from across the island to the Gros Islet Secondary School for a grand festive gathering with some of St. Lucia’s best entertainers and local artists, bouncing castles, treats, drinks, cartoon and Disney characters and more.
“At Digicel we recognize how important it is to create memorable and merry moments for everyone throughout the year but we believe that at Christmas our kids truly deserve the best. Through our Christmas toy drive initiatives we were able to impact the lives of many children who would otherwise have not been able to receive a gift or have an incredible Christmas. We are thankful for the support of the organizations, institutions and charities who were all very supportive partners in the delivery of this element of our Christmas social programme,” said Marketing and Communications Executive at Digicel, Miss Louise Victor. “Having launched a very early Christmas, we did promise to continue on our philosophy of touching and changing lives in all that we do throughout the season; and as the season culminates we are truly elated that we have been able to brighten Christmas for many across St. Lucia.” Miss Victor added.
Digicel also made donations to the Jacmel Kids Club Committee, the Soufriere Region Development Foundation, Ti Colon/Barre St Joseph Development, Kiwanis’ Club, the Richfond Police Station and the Prime Minister’s Christmas party for children with disabilities.
