Digicel, for the seventh consecutive year, partnered with the island’s chief organizer for St. Lucia Carnival, the Carnival Planning and Management Agency (CPMA) in the presentation of the 2015 Lucian Carnival. This premier cultural celebration was officially launched at Samaans Park on May 24th and climaxed on July 21st with the Parade of the Bands. Throughout the two month journey Digicel maintained its involvement and supported many events, parties, bands, communities and competitions across the island.
Digicel supported a total of eight bands for the 2015 Carnival season. These included RED Unlimited, Just 4 Fun, Royalites Xtreme and Insaniti Carnival Band. Digicel also supported the community of Anse La Raye in hosting its carnival celebrations, Rampage Bliss carnival band of Dennery and Meltdown XD for Vieux Fort Carnival. In the Kiddies category, Digicel continued its partnership with Just Us Kids Carnival Band which captured the title of Junior Band of the Year for the fifth consecutive year. Digicel also congratulates Red Unlimited and Just 4 Fun for placing second and fourth respectively in the Band of the Year 2015 category. Digicel further applauds Royalites Xtreme and Red Unlimited on both claiming the title of Mas on the Move 2015.

Moving into competition, Digicel congratulates Miss Digicel, Francillia Austin who finished second runner-up in the National Carnival Queen pageant on an amazing representation before, during and after the show and looks forward to working with her in her charitable initiatives as the year progresses.
Panorama was yet another celebration for Digicel as Digicel Pantime walked away with the title of National Panorama Champions for the third consecutive year. Preceding Panorama was the King & Queen of the Bands Competition for which ‘Tribe of Twell’ comfortably captured both titles. Family and friend of Digicel, Ricky T, along with Superman HD with their power track, ‘Perfect Storm’ captured the title of Soca Monarch King(s) for 2015. Special congratulation goes out to Sir Lancalot on placing in both the Groovy and Power Soca Competitions. Congratulations are also extended to Groovy King, Arthur and Calypso King, Walleigh who both regained the titles from 2014. Ricky T, Arthur and Walleigh all received brand new Digicel 4G Samsung Galaxies S5 smartphones on the various nights along with their trophies.
Marketing and Communications Executive at Digicel, Louise Victor said, “Digicel recognizes that cultural development investment is very critical and, as a company with a strong social conscience, we are aware of what Carnival means to the people, hence our continued commitment to the development and enhancement of St. Lucia’s culture. We see the economic and social impact it stimulates in the communities as well as the stakeholders and this reassures us that we are doing something right and that our investment has not been in vain. Carnival 2015 for us definitely was a great success and we look forward to 2016 being even greater.”
Digicel’s carnival season ended on a high last Saturday with what was dubbed ‘The unofficial close of Carnival” – Mas Attack at Samaans Park for which hundreds of carnival enthusiasts, who were still yearning for that final jump up, turned out in extraordinary numbers to culminate Carnival on a high.
