Digicel continues to nurture sports in Saint Lucia

After a great training session, Saint Lucia’s national cricket team was surprised by Digicel’s donation of US$2,800 worth of cricket equipment, leaving captain Yasmine St Ange, and Manager of the St Lucia Female Cricket Team, Eugena Gregg, delighted and optimistic.

This contribution comes right on the heels of the renewal of a four-year partnership between Digicel and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) which includes the Men’s and for the first time, the U19 and Women’s teams.

Digicel St Lucia Country Manager, Siobhan James-Alexander, hands over cricket equipment to the Manager of the St Lucia Female Cricket Team, Eugena Gregg.

Eugena, who is also the manager of the Windward Islands Cricket team and a former West Indies player, was grateful for the donation. She commented, “The team has been training hard and this donation will only motivate us to work even harder. On behalf of the team, I would like to thank Digicel for this contribution which I am sure will lead to success.”

Also at the presentation was President of the National Cricket Association, Julian Charles, who spoke on Digicel’s commitment to sports in the Caribbean. “This is what I love about this brand; they recognise potential and then invest in it. We need more of this, not only in Saint Lucia but in the entire Caribbean region. Thank you Digicel.”

Digicel Country Manager, Siobhan James-Alexander, responded, “This is a part of our makeup as a brand – we are committed to our communities in any way we can. Team St Lucia is getting ready to compete against Dominica this weekend and we saw this as the perfect opportunity to give them the best resources to compete at the highest level.”

Digicel has been a sponsor of West Indies Cricket since 2004 as part of the company’s overall strategy to help develop sporting talent across the region.
