Digicel partners with XS Productions and Aqua Mele

In maintaining its social responsibility of backing and promoting rich St. Lucian tradition, Digicel supported the seventeenth XS Productions Annual Easter Kite-Flying Festival and Aqua Mele, both held at Pigeon Island on Easter Sunday and Monday. The atmosphere was nothing but pure family fun and great competition. The Kite-Flying Festival concluded with Diane Wilson as the adult overall winner walking away with a Digicel pack containing a brand new Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone, power pack charger and more from Digicel.

The annual Easter Kite-Flying Festival, which is the longest running family outdoor event on island, was held near The Landings under the theme “Kites on Cloud 9”. Scores of families and individuals gathered as registration commenced and the four flying classes of competition were announced – Juniors, Adults, Groups and the New Flying Aces. The skies of Pigeon Island came alive as kites such as “Green Flavor”, “Marie Alish”, ”Hulk”, “Missy” and “Soloist”, to name just a few, all soared to ‘Cloud 9’ . Companies, families and kids all brought out their best techniques to ensure that their masterpieces maintained dominance as they grew in altitude on Easter Monday.

On the other opposite side, the perimeter of Pigeon Island National Landmark was a total buzz with Aqua Mele action. There was a Beach Volleyball competition, Small Goals, Go-Kart Racing, Non-Mariners Race, food and packed live entertainment. It was nothing but nostalgia for persons who remembered the ever famous Aqua Action, as Aqua Mele sought to reinvent the atmosphere.
