Digicel Partners with Youth Emergency Action Committees

As part of Digicel’s corporate social responsibility philosophy, the company continues to strategically partner with various social organisations and institutions. The latest beneficiary of such a partnership is Youth Emergency Action Committees (YEAC) St. Lucia. Digicel supported the group in the implementation of its final project phase under the theme ‘Leading Youth in Disaster Resilience’.

The YEAC team prides itself on the focus of volunteerism and the betterment of the community and self. The organisation seeks to primarily target unattached youth which includes persons who are not members or affiliates of other organisations or clubs, unemployed or otherwise disengaged. Despite having encountered many challenges throughout its existence, YEAC has remained focused on being a beacon of change, inspiration and hope for the young people it serves and its community base of Ti Rocher Castries, Marchand and Forestierre.

YEAC Project Manager, Miss Allister Phillip, commented on Digicel’s support for the group, saying, “We are proud and ecstatic to have Digicel as our corporate sponsor for 2016 to 2017. This contribution allows for the team to be flexible in acquiring training and enhancing their skillset. This will further facilitate the development of our organisation training needs and the sustainability of the project. The funding received will allow us to be more sustainable and marketable by being associated with such a strong brand as Digicel. This is also a helpful and fruitful step towards getting more local buy-in and corporate support for our efforts with the youth.”

Young people are a dynamic reservoir of talent, energy, and power which plays a critical role in a country’s development.

It is therefore imperative that, as private corporate citizens, we play our part in ensuring we help further equip them with added resources in their quest to contributing positively to society. Digicel applauds YEAC and the meaningful work they have been doing. We encourage them to continue to be a source of inspiration to many.”
