Digicel has partnered with the government and people of Saint Lucia in celebrating Saint Lucia’s 36th Independence Anniversary through its support of a host of national calendared activities. Such a commitment by Digicel is testimony to the company’s support in promoting the cultural authenticity of Saint Lucia.
Independence Day events will be hosted across the various communities of Saint Lucia, with the town of Vieux Fort being the ‘Independence capital’. Digicel will provide support to the National Celebratory Rally in Vieux Fort, the Independence Food Fair, SLAM Concert plus a range of community activities throughout the week of Independence beginning February 19th.
Cabinet Secretary and Chairperson of the planning committee, Mr. Daryl Montroupe commented, “We want to have crafts and models on display so that patrons can view the creativity of Saint Lucia. We were able to do so to some extent last year but now we want to be able to create a platform, a true platform.”
Digicel’s Country Manager, Mrs. Holly Hughes McNamara commented, “Having been in the Saint Lucian market for the past twelve years, Digicel is delighted to celebrate such a momentous achievement of 36 years of Independence with the nation and all its citizens. The communities and people of Saint Lucia are very dear to us at Digicel, and we are truly excited that the Independence celebrations have been taken to communities across Saint Lucia, providing all Saint Lucians with the opportunity to join in the celebrations.”
Digicel encourages all St. Lucians and visitors to be part of this year’s Independence celebrations.
