Digicel Supports Grow Well Primary School Quiz Competition

As part of its on-going drive to develop the youth of the Gros Islet community, Digicel partnered with Grow Well Inc. in hosting its thirteenth annual Primary Schools Quiz Competition on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Players Pavilion of the Beausejour Cricket Grounds.

The competition was held amongst the six primary schools in the wider Gros Islet area with seventy-two students participating. In the end the 1st place went to Bonne Terre Preparatory – a first time winner in this 13-year competition; 2nd place Grande Riviere, and 3rd place the Montessori Centre.

The competition is timely as part of Grow Well’s twentieth anniversary of youth development programmes in the community of Gros Islet.The community of Gros Islet is faced with many challenges, one of which is disadvantaged youth and youth at risk. Over the past years Grow Well, a non-profit organization has continued to support, nurture and encourage vulnerable youth through several initiatives such as After School Programmes, Remedial Reading Programmes, Arts and Craft classes all aimed at developing and inspiring youth.

The participating schools included the Gros Islet Primary School, Monchy Combined School, Grande Riviere Primary School, Dame Pearlette Louisy Primary School, the Montessori Centre, Bonne Terre Preparatory. Students were required to answer over 50 general knowledge questions based on St. Lucia’s history, culture and current events.
