The SLTB is again lending logistical and other technical support to the staging of the second annual Digicel Tri St. Lucia Triathlon to be held here on Saturday the 22nd November 2014.
Tri St Lucia 2014 will be the culmination of a week-long festival of fun activities hosted at Rodney Bay in the North-west of the Island.
Events including a Wednesday – 5km beach fun run at 5pm, Thursday 8am- Aquathlon (swim 500m and run 3km and on Friday 8am – 2km ocean swim, Designed with all ages and fitness levels in mind, these activities will provide holidaymakers, and locals, with a taste of the overall triathlon event, offering families, couples and single people the opportunity to take part.
With four separate competitive distances available, including relays, there is something for everyone. The course includes a swim in the beautiful clear waters of Rodney Bay, a tough hilly volcanic bike ride to cotton Bay and finally, a flat run to Pigeon Island and back, Event distances include:

The Dagger: 200m swim, 6.6km bike, 2.5km run
The Pistol: 750m swim, 13.2km bike, 5km run
The Cutlass: 1500m swim, 26.4km bike, 10km run
*The Musket: 2250m swim, 39.6km bike, 15km run.

There will also be Relay teams covering the same distances. (Relay teams can be 2 or 3 people doing any of the disciplines)
For the Children’s (5- 9yrs) events there will be a 100m swim, an 800m bike and an 800m run as their challenge.
Older children (8- 15) can still take part doing the aquathlon (swim/ run) over 200m swim and 800m run.
Last year we were very pleased with the numbers (115) this year we are hoping for over 200. We have an all-female triathlon club coming down from New York bringing 20 women to race.
Special guests this year include Sharron Davies and Steve Cram. Both Olympic medal winners and world champions.
They will be with us for the whole week and supporting all the athletes taking part.
We are hoping they will be invited to go into some local schools and do some media work to help promote sport and fitness on the island.
