St Lucian Olympian Swimmer Danielle Beaubrun continued her London Games preparation by creating waves at the prestigious Mare Nostrum tripartite grand prix meets in Europe.
This circuit brings together the three most renowned 50 Metre (M) swim meets in Europe and is one of the first international tours attracting a host of world-class swimmers.
In Barcelona Spain on June 2, Beaubrun swam a new St Lucia national record in the 50M breast to capture the Bronze medal in that event, trailing other Spanish medalists Marina Garcia and Concepcion Badilla with gold and silver respectively. Beaubrun swam a 32.14 in that event.
The previous day, Danielle swam in the B Final of the 200M breast to set another St Lucia national record with a time of 2:43.21. She also placed 10th of the 26 swimmers in the 100M breaststroke with a time of 1:11.25.
Moving to the south of France in Canet at the second leg of the tripartite meet, Beaubrun confirmed her 50M prowess. She removed another 0.1 seconds off her earlier national record, to win another bronze behind Rebecca Ejdervic (Sweden) and Yuzhe He (China). This new time has Beaubrun now ranked 49th in the world for this event for 2012.
She then swam a 1:11.21 in the 100M breast and placed sixth in the B Final.
From France, Beaubrun returned to Fort Myers Florida to continue her Olympic preparation, with only the Caribbean Island Swimming Championships (CISC) in Aruba in late June, as her final preparation event.
