The final preliminary qualifying leg of the 2013 Guinness Street Challenge Small Goals Football competition took place Sunday evening at the Multi-Purpose Courts in Vieux Fort.
Qualifying out of the Vieux Fort Preliminary were Can’t Take Your Christ and Wawa Boys/Platinum FC. In the semi-finals, Can’t Take Your Christ won over Bosnia 1-0 and Wawa Boys got past another part of their two outfits for the evening Platinum FC on penalties.
In the finals Can’t Take Your Christ defeated Wawa Boys/Platinum FC 1-0.
After this round the final sixteen qualifiers for the grand finals of the competition to be played on the Cacabef on Sunday, June 9 are: Young Strikers and Guyanese
(Dennery preliminaries); Rising Stars and Lick Me All Over (Desruisseaux preliminaries); Young Guns and Prospects (Micoud preliminaries); Veterans and Enjoyment (Vanard preliminaries); Pumas and Baba Roots (Mabouya Valley preliminaries); Fantastic and Keep Calm (Soufriere preliminaries); Strugglers and MOBS (Babonneau preliminaries).
The winner of the finals receives EC$4,000 and gets a chance to represent St Lucia at the regional finals of the competition. It is scheduled for June 20-23 in St Vincent and the Grenadines. The grand prize there is US$4,000.
