Happy Independence St. Vincent!

CARICOM Secretary-General Dr Carla Barnett has congratulated the Government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Forty-Two years as an independent nation, noting that the resilience displayed in overcoming the recent traumaticĀ volcanic eruption in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic is a fine example of the peopleā€™s strength of character.

Dr. Barnettā€™s congratulatory message to St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves also expressed CARICOMā€™s pride in the countryā€™s election to the United Nations Security Council and the leadership exercised during its presidency.

She also noted that CARICOM has benefitted greatly from St. Vincent and the Grenadinesā€™ invaluable contribution towards fostering regional integration, especially in fulfilling its responsibility withing the CARICOM Quasi-Cabinet for Transportation.

ā€œI join with the Caribbean Community, in extending best wishes to the Government and People of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the countryā€™s continued advancement and well-beingā€, the Secretary-General said.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines marks its Independence Anniversary on 27 October.
