St Lucia’s Levern Spencer was not among the finalists in ladies high jump.

While a slew of Caribbean athletes like gold medallist Kirani James (Grenada) and 100 metre champion Yohan Blake (Jamaica) made their mark at this year’s IAAF World Championship in Daegu, Korea, St Lucia’s two medal hopefuls bowed out from this year’s competition.
After registering 2.31 metres (m) on Tuesday which was a personal best, Darvin Edwards made in through to the finals. He competed on Thursday but this time around his best jump was 2.20 m which put him out of medal contention.
For world ranked Levern Spencer, it had to be disappointing not getting past the opening round of the ladies high jump competition on Thursday. Spencer best jump on the day was 1.9 2 m. She missed her next three attempts at 1.95 metres and as a result did not make it through to the finals.
