Homicide at New Village

About 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2014, officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department were apprised of gunshots being fired at New Village, Castries.

The officers immediately proceeded to the location where they observed a young male seated on a bench under a shed in the area. He appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound. This individual was identified as 27 year old Joel “Willie” Nobal of New Village, Castries. Nobal was pronounced dead on the scene by a medical practitioner. A post mortem examination on the body is scheduled for a later date.

Subsequent to that incident, several shots were fired at a police officer who was in the vicinity of New Village.

One person is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
