Hyacinth Foundation Donates to Dennery

Giving back to the community is the main goal of the Hyacinth Foundation. The Foundation’s most recent donation was to the Dennery village Council in April, 2013.

The Hyacinth Family Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, presented the Dennery Village Council with a variety of clothing apparel for further distribution to the needy of the community on Saturday April 27.  Present at the official handing over ceremony were officials from the Dennery Village Council and members of the Hyacinth Family Foundation.

The donation comprised two barrels of clothing apparel for babies, children, men and women, collected from family members and friends, as well as donations from overseas affiliates.

In handing over the items, Francis Hyacinth, a director of the Foundation linked the donation to the objectives of the Foundation, stating, “It brings us great joy to help others in need.  We aim to serve the community, assist the poor and underprivileged and collaborate with organizations of similar interests.”

Speaking on the gesture, Hyacinth noted that this was not the first event undertaken by the Foundation.  The Foundation fed and brought cheer to the senior citizens at Comfort Bay, Vieux Fort last Christmas; donated clothes to the Salvation Army of High Street, Castries in March this year; and distributed school bags to students of the RC Boys Primary School in April.

Regis graciously accepted the items on behalf of the Dennery Community.  He acknowledged that several persons in the area are still very much in need of these basic items necessary for survival, including food and shelter, following the passage of Hurricane Tomas in 2010.  He further commended the efforts of the Foundation and encouraged persons from the general public to be generous in their donations to the needy.

The Hyacinth Family Foundation was formed in celebration of the legacy created by Willie and Anne-Marie Hyacinth of 39 High Street, Castries.  The Foundation was established on March 19, 2012. For more information or to offer assistance visit their website:  hyacinthfamilyfoundation@yahoo.com.
