Jeremiah Norbert on Monday declared that he remains committed in his quest to become the parliamentary representative for Micoud North. The Saint Lucia Labour Party candidate was injured in a motorcycle accident on February 17 in Micoud. He was transported to St. Jude Hospital and subsequently admitted to Tapion Hospital.
During that time, Norbert said, he knew that Saint Lucians were praying for him. “When I got to Tapion and I entered the surgery room; I’m thankful for Dr. Jeffers but I know that he was not operating on his own accord. But because of the prayers which went up, he was able to salvage my foot. Your prayers have been answered my people, God has been working through me,” he said in a Facebook Live from his hospital bed.
The candidate says that much can be learnt from this experience and thanked Saint Lucians for the outpouring of love. “God uses situations at times to draw His people closer to Him, and I see this experience as one where God used me to draw His people closer to Him,” Norbert stated. “I’m thankful for all the text messages, the Whatsapp messages, phone calls and all the outpouring of love; it was overwhelming, and this is what has helped me in my recovery process. The love from you has been overwhelming and I’m thankful for all the love that ya’ll poured out for me.”
Norbert encouraged citizens to continue to pray for him and revealed that he is set to travel to neighboring Martinique today as he begins his physical recovery. The political newcomer assured constituents that he is not daunted. “I remain committed to the cause,” he declared. “I remain committed to being the representative for my people of Micoud North and I know that God will see me through. I know that He will cover me with His blood and we will come out of this thing victorious.”
Norbert noted that although he is currently confined to a hospital bed, “sooner than later I will be back, stronger than before.”
