Colours lit up the National Cultural Centre on Tuesday evening as ten companies battled for the inter-commercial House Calypso Crown. The performers hit the stage with dynamic pieces conveying various social messages for what the CDF calls “The greatest staff party.”
Last year’s winner, Ronald “Sir Francis” Francis, was unable to hold onto his title because Malika “Miss Kitty” Chester (LUCELEC) blew the crowd away with her song Brother’s Keeper. Francis, who represented Digicel last year, sang on behalf of the Teacher’s Union and placed third with his song ‘Seeds we Sow.’ Jayhan “Sprata-Pra” Narcisse from the Royal St Lucia Police Force came in second with ‘Voting.’
Participants for the evening represented the Teachers Union, WASCO, Media Zone (Choice TV), ECFH, LUCELEC, Digicel, CFL (Super J), SLASPA, NIC and the Royal St Lucia Police Force.
The night kicked off with a nostalgic video package of inter-commercial house performances for 2002 to 2010. Guest performances included Nicole David, Crocodile, Mongster featuring Ambi, Teddyson John, Ricky T and Superman HD along with Grenada’s Baby Killa.
