Kaiso Headquarters 2011

They’re back for another fantastic year.  Kaiso Headquarters is all set to rock St Lucia on July 9 with fourteen participants who are no strangers to the stage.  Produced by the Royal St Lucia Police Force, the event was initiated in 2005 and has been thriving since.  The event was formed with a dual purpose—as a public relations machinery and to allow members of the force a stress free break from the daily grind while encouraging healthy competition.
Last year’s king Jayhan “Sparta Pra” Narcisse will have to defend his crown against thirteen opponents.   Narcisse, a member of the police band, triumphed with his song “Police of the Year.” This time around he has to battle Roy “Killer B” Busby from prosecution, Calixtus “Avenger” Robert from Rodney Bay sub-station, Dennie “D Marshall” Marshall from police band, Liselle “No Chance” Paul from traffic, Tamara “Brown Sugar” Wilfred from public relations, Ranny “King Green” Harris from Vieux Fort station, Irvin “De Advisor” Alfred from Marine Unit, Carbinus “Illusionist” Pierre Louis from traffic, Sabina “Siwo” Mangal from Vieux Fort Police station, Valentius “Mighty Squid” Mathurin from Bordelais, Mellissa “The Slayer” James from police control and Damian “The Fireman” Jn Baptiste from Fire service.
Though the number of participants has decreased from sixteen last year, the event’s coordinator Dyson Imbert assures the quality has anything but decreased.                Excitedly he told the STAR: “The response for this activity has been phenomenal both in member participation and the attendance by the public.  We have put our best foot forward for the past five years and we intend to continue to give it our all for the sixth year.”
Kaiso Headquarters will be held on Saturday, July 9 at 8:30pm in the parking lot of the Police Canteen on upper Bridge Street. Imbert invited the public saying: “This is the event of all events. Come be entertained by the most talked about Calypso show happening this year!”
