Law Fraternity welcomes New Attorney

Georgette Adonis: from SJC to the Bar in 10 years.

Another young Saint Lucian has been called to the bar as an Attorney-at-Law of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
Ms Georgette Adonis,  the last daughter of Anne Martha Elmee and George Lovence, residing in Grande Riviere, Gros Islet, was welcomed during a short ceremony last Thursday presided over by Justice Thomas Astaphan.

The Petition was moved in the presence of family, friends and colleagues by Mrs. Cybelle Cenac, who spoke of her achievements befitting justification for her admittance to the Bar of Saint Lucia.

In her maiden speech Ms Adonis spoke about her journey into the legal fraternity and stages of conception and development.

She described the legal profession as a collegial and helping profession – one which connects society’s problems to its solutions.

“I do give the undertaking to maintain the highest professional standard of integrity and competence, whilst defending my clients to the best of my ability,” she said.

Ms Adonis said that her passion for her career as well as for being a reputable officer of the court, was above all else.
She articulated heartfelt gratitude to her family and loved ones for their unwavering support in her quest to becoming an Attorney-at-Law.

Ms Adonis graduated from the St. Joseph’s Convent Secondary School in 2004, thereafter completing her ‘A’ Levels at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, graduating in 2006.

She declared that she is aware that the journey has now begun and that what she puts into her career will inevitably be what she harvests from it.

Ms Adonis said she is eager and ready to continue helping her country in the administration of Justice through hard work and proficiency.

The young Attorney is sister to Ms. Shawn Adonis of Stewart and Associates.
