LIME embraces local artistes

LIME has teamed up with two of Saint Lucia’s most dynamic and gifted artistes in an alliance that underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to supporting and nurturing local talent.

Saint Lucia’s and the Caribbean’s leading telecommunications service provider has concluded an endorsement deal with firebrand Soca star, multi-talented vocalist and musician, Teddyson John and the popular and accomplished contemporary artiste Stacy Iman Charles. The company will provide both artistes with financial and other forms of support to help them enhance and further their musical careers.

Teddyson John, popularly known as TJ, is Saint Lucia’s current Groovy Soca Monarch, having captured the title in 2012 with his smash hit ‘Land of Wine.’  His hit song ‘Push Back’ is featured on the popular ‘Paradise Riddim’ alongside T&T’s Machel Montano, Nadia Batson, Kerwin Dubois and Farmer Nappy. TJ who is a mainstay of the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival has performed throughout the Caribbean as well as in the US, Canada and the UK. He recently released his first single, ‘Take Over,’ for Carnival 2013. The single is part of Teddyson’s first studio album, “Love. Passion. Music,” due to be released soon.

Meanhile, LIME has been associated with Stacey for several years, since her emergence as part of the TEMPEST project. The 23-year-old vocalist was among the up-and-coming singers who performed with iconic guitarist Ronald Boo Hinkson on the Saint Lucia Jazz mainstage in 2010. Her sultry vocals are featured on songs like ‘Forever’ and ‘Play My Song’ on the Best of TEMPEST Volume 1 Compilation.

The dynamic duo was the star attraction at the Listening Party organized by LIME at the Turbulence Bar in Rodney Bay on Friday to officially announce the sponsorship. It comes ahead of a major promotional campaign by LIME that is expected to cause waves throughout the local and regional telecommunications industry. Teddyson and Stacey will serve as LIME ambassadors and they will both feature prominently throughout the campaign.

“We are proud to announce our partnership with Teddyson and Stacey. For us this reaffirms our continuing commitment to the development of Saint Lucia’s artistes,” said Chris Williams, LIME Saint Lucia General Manager. “Our model of sponsorship places the emphasis on the artistes’ long-term career development, and puts their growth, financial stability and security first.  We’re looking forward to a bright future with Stacey and Teddyson as they evolve musically and creatively,” Williams added.

Both artistes expressed their gratitude for LIME’s endorsement. Speaking on behalf of himself and his colleague, Teddyson John said: “We are extremely grateful for the support we are receiving from LIME and for the opportunity to broaden our exposure by bringing our music to an even wider audience. It’s a pleasure to partner with a company that embraces creativity and understands that artistes need to evolve without sacrificing their creativity. We look forward to what we believe will be a great collaboration.”
