The Gros Islet Carnival Queen Show Committee in collaboration with headline sponsors LIME, is gearing up to host the 2014 Miss Gros Islet Carnival Queen pageant this Sunday, 31 August, at the Sandals Grande Saint Lucian Spa and Beach Resort, Gros Islet.
With Saint Lucia and the Caribbean’s leading telecommunications company on board, this year’s pageant dubbed ‘Miss Gros Islet Carnival Queen – The Sultry Six,’ and featuring six beautiful young contestants, is expected to be more exciting than ever.
LIME is providing the Queen Show Committee with financial support and telecommunications services, and is also sponsoring one of the contestants.
“We are proud to be teaming up with the Gros Islet Carnival Queen Show Committee as major sponsors of this year’s pageant,” said LIME Corporate Comunications Executive, Terry Finisterre. “The show promotes Saint Lucia’s young female talents, as well as the calypso art form and our calypsonians and other artistes. Our support of the pageant is driven by our commitment to youth and social development through positive cultural activities, and the pageant exemplifies that.”
Pageant coordinator Janice Dupal said, “Having had a great show in 2013, we’re confident that it will go from strength to strenth, especially with sponsors like LIME on board. We see the pageant as a positive vehicle for transformation and, to that end, we are deeply grateful for the support that we have received from LIME.”
According to Janice, the queen show contestants will make four appearances; personal speech, talent competition, creative evening wear and interview. The reigning queen, Shauna Menald, who captured the Miss Gros Islet Carnival Queen 2013 title, will make an appearance at the pageant and will crown this year’s queen.
The contestants are Akisha Gideon, Raquel John, Bebiana Mangal, Eslyn Leon, Okizia Lambert and She’nil Emmanuel.
The show will also feature performances by some of Saint Lucia’s most popular artistes. Tickets can be purchased at Galaxy Studio in Gros Islet.
