St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) has donated $25,000 to the National Community Foundation (NCF) in support of its annual telethon. The 11th annual fundraising event will be held on Friday August 1, 2014.
The National Telethon was officially launched at Government House on July 1, 2014. Representing LUCELEC was Corporate Communications Officer Carmy Joseph who spoke of the company’s continued support for the event that enables LUCELEC to assist medical requests made to the company.
“We have partnered with the NCF since inception and our contribution goes towards providing support for people who need medical assistance. So when we receive such requests we forward them to the NCF for their consideration and advise the persons making the requests accordingly,” she says.
The Telethon is the single largest fundraiser held annually by the non-profit organization. This year the aim is to raise $250,000 in donations.
Corporate social responsibility is one of the tenets the organization uses to solicit support.
It is a philosophy LUCELEC embraces contributing annually to the economic, social, cultural, educational and sporting needs of the country from events and activities such as Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival to the National Inter-Secondary School Sports and the National Science and Technology Fair.
The NCF Telethon will be held at the Gaiety in Rodney Bay from 10 a.m. The event will be headlined by Trinidadians Baron and Sugar Aloes as well as Saint Lucian Invader
