One man is currently in police custody following a fatal shooting on Sunday in Augier, Vieux Fort. The victim has been identified as Vigay Roberts. The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force says that the incident occurred near the deceased’s home on Creole Day. On Monday morning, Lead Firefighter Stacy Joseph told the STAR that the Fire Service received a call informing them of the possible shooting at approximately 8:45 p.m.
“The responding officers found a male with a penetrating wound to his shoulder. A rapid assessment revealed that he was pulseless and breathless,” Joseph said. “The individual was immediately transferred to the ambulance where CPR was initiated. Rapid emergency transportation was provided to the St. Jude hospital, where upon arrival, the patient was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.”
This is the 42nd homicide for the year. At a press conference earlier today, Superintendent George Nicholas told reporters that the police responded to the incident, “where it was reported that Vigay Roberts received a gunshot wound to his body. He was escorted to the St. Jude’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead…One man has been taken into custody in relation to that matter.”
A post mortem examination is scheduled for Thursday October 29, 2020.
